I leaned over to Blake in the middle of the movie and laughed saying “babe…I’m so bored.”
We suffered through this movie I was so eager to see, that when the credits finally came we both sprinted out of the theater laughing harder than we have at a Kevin Hart movie. I mean really. I think we were both so filled with this tear jerking laughter because we both knew how badly I wanted to see this movie... and it was an utter fail. When Blake surprised me and said we were seeing this movie over an action movie- we thought we were setting ourselves up for success. But we were wrong, so wrong. But hey, we got a good laugh out of it.
Life’s a little like that isn’t it? We want some things so bad, don’t we? We get these ideas and dreams in our minds and we are like “Hey God, so I got this super great idea. I mean it’s basically setting myself up for success, because ya know the reviews have been great. So God, just trust me on this one… sound good?”... And what happens? We lean over to God and say: “didn’t you hear me- this isn’t what I wanted or expected. The reviews from this was 5 stars… I don’t think you heard me right. Are we at the same show, God?”
Some times, we get so blinded by OUR dreams, OUR plans, and OUR opinions that we trick our minds into thinking that our way is the best way. And when our plans don’t work out the way we pictured, we lean over and say "ugh, this isn't what I expected." We forget that our 5 star review of plans isn’t necessarily God’s 5 star plans for our lives. The world may say “Hey go follow your dreams and plan your life out cause that’s what will make you successful.”… When in fact it’s God that will make us successful.
I don’t know what plans have failed you recently. I don’t know if you just failed a test, or if you are just straight up lost. But I do know one thing; I know that God can + will get you on the right track. I know that there is a purpose for it all. I know there is a purpose in a failed plan, because Jesus. Jesus came to take all those failed plans and turn them into hope.
So just as there is laughter at the end of a failed movie date, there is hope when your plans in this life go down to the dirt. Jesus is our hope. Our hope that even when our plans may fail, He never does or ever will.
